Zip, smack, pow. This is supercharged, traditional Txakoli with green apple, citrus peel and a touch of salinity, reflecting its proximity to the sea. Crisp and mouth watering with the classic Txakoli spritz, but backed up by some savoury, herbal tones and rounded texture, thanks to a months aging on its lees. Very moreish and dangerously drinkable. Summer in a bottle.

Bodegas Virgen de Lorea sits on the green, Atlantic-cooled slopes of Bizkaia (Biscay) and is a brilliant example of how serious Txakoli has become. Working mainly with indigenous varieties, this estate farms a mosaic of hillside parcels that bring natural tension, salinity and character to the wines. Viticulture on this site dates back to the late 17th century, but the current winery was established in the mid-1990s as part of the revival of modern Txakoli.
