Why You'll Love It
A generous Puglian red with plenty of black fruit and a little liquorice, coconut and spice. Three months in American oak round out the edges, but there's enough freshness to stop it feeling heavy. Exactly the sort of wine to open with steak or a slow-cooked ragù.
About The Producer
Paolo Leo is a fifth-generation family winery in Salento, Puglia. The family works with the region's indigenous grape varieties, particularly Primitivo and Negroamaro, combining traditional bush vines with modern, carefully controlled winemaking.
Winemaking Information
100% Primitivo from traditional, approximately 40-year-old bush vines in the Manduria and Sava area of Puglia. Harvested early in the morning to preserve freshness. Destemmed fruit ferments in stainless steel at around 25°C for 8–10 days, with 15–18 days of skin maceration. Aged for three months in American oak barriques followed by six months in stainless steel. Producer specifies 14% ABV and suggests serving around 18°C.
