Why You'll Love It
Orange wine without the weirdness. This is juicy, sun-soaked and gently grippy, with apricot, orange peel and mirabelle plum tumbling through the glass. A little aniseed and stony freshness keep things interesting, while the amphora ageing adds texture without weighing it down. Brilliant with olives, baked fish, fragrant spices or a table full of Middle Eastern picky bits.
About The Producer
Owner and winemaker Rosalía Molina makes expressive organic wines at Bodegas Altolandon, one of Spain’s highest-altitude wineries. The estate sits 1,100 metres above sea level in Manchuela, where warm days and dramatically cooler nights encourage slow ripening while preserving acidity. The vineyards are certified organic, biodiversity is encouraged throughout the estate, and everything is harvested by hand before being vinified with native yeasts and minimal intervention.
Winemaking Information
A 50/50 blend of Garnacha Blanca and Garnacha Gris from 15-year-old vines rooted in limestone and stony soils. The grapes are harvested by hand and spontaneously fermented with their skins in 1,000-litre clay amphorae. No oak or added sulphites are used, and the wine stabilises naturally during Manchuela’s cold winter. The result is a pale orange wine with gentle tannin, texture and freshness.
