About The Producer
Azienda Agricola Cortese is based near Vittoria in south-eastern Sicily, where organic viticulture and careful work with native varieties underpin the wines. The estate combines traditional methods, including open-top barrel fermentation, with a focus on preserving Sicily's distinctive fruit and freshness.
Winemaking Information
100% Nero d'Avola from organically grown vineyards around Vittoria in Sicily. Hand-picked grapes ferment in small open-top barriques of around 150 litres, with gentle manual punch-downs over 10–12 days. Skin contact continues for approximately 30–35 days in total. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in barrique, then ages in oak for 12 months and in bottle for a further six months before release.
