About The Producer
Luigi Baudana is a small historic estate in Serralunga d'Alba, Barolo, tended for decades by Luigi and Fiorina Baudana. Since 2009 the vineyards and cellar have been managed by the Vajra family, preserving the individual character of Baudana's celebrated cru sites. The estate follows certified organic viticulture with an emphasis on biodiversity.
Winemaking Information
100% Nebbiolo from the Baudana MGA in Serralunga d'Alba, where blue-toned fossil marls meet the Formazioni di Lequio. The 2021 fruit was picked on 14 October, gently fermented in open-top wooden tini and kept under a submerged cap for 54 days. Malolactic fermentation occurred spontaneously the following spring. Aged 23 months in large custom-made Slavonian casks (15, 17 and 25hl) before bottling on 25 June. ABV: 14%; residual sugar 0.44g/L; acidity 5.49g/L; pH 3.26.
