There's incredible depth here. Fragrant rose petals and violets give way to sour cherry, wild raspberry and blood orange, before savoury notes of liquorice, leather, tobacco and truffle begin to emerge. About The Producer
Agricola Marrone has been making wine in La Morra for more than 130 years and is now run by the fourth generation of the Marrone family. While deeply rooted in Barolo's traditions, the family has always embraced innovation, becoming early pioneers of low-yield viticulture and quality-focused farming long before it became commonplace. Today, sisters Valentina, Serena and Denise Marrone lead the estate, producing a range of acclaimed wines from some of Piedmont's finest crus. Their Bussia Barolo is the flagship of the estate, regularly receiving international acclaim and recognised as one of the family's finest expressions of Nebbiolo.
Winemaking Information
The fruit comes exclusively from the celebrated Bussia cru, one of Barolo's most prestigious vineyard sites. After rigorous selection in both the vineyard and winery, the Nebbiolo undergoes a long 35-day maceration to gently extract colour, perfume and finely structured tannins. Following fermentation, the wine completes malolactic fermentation in large oak casks before spending 30 months ageing in large Slavonian oak botti, with regular bâtonnage during the first ten months. A further six months in bottle ensures the wine is beautifully integrated before release.
