Soft, bright, cheeky Pinot Noir from one of Santenay's oldest producers. Loaded with pure fruit flavours; cherries, currants and raspberries, intertwined with a tickle of earthy spice. Santenay always has a bit of a grainy texture and this is no different - certainly a wine for food. Duck breast and mash would be a dream. This is energetic, supremely charming red Burgundy at a very good price.
About The Producer
The Sorines estate is owned and run by the heirs of one of the oldest families in Santenay. The family estate was rebuilt in 1946 by Jean Sorine and was then taken over by his son Christian in 1990. Today Christian is joined by his wife Emma in the vineyards and winery. With limited vineyards available in Santenay the estate has grown and now also includes some Maranges. The Sorine's have chosen not to gain organic certification however in many areas they would qualify, the aim here being to make wines that are true to their place, and have minerality and purity.
Winemaking Information
Produced from old Pinot Noir vines rooted in Santenay's limestone and clay soils, the grapes are harvested by hand and fermented using traditional Burgundian methods. Gentle extraction preserves the perfume and finesse of the fruit before the wine is matured in French oak barrels, where it gains subtle spice and silky texture without overwhelming the vineyard character. The old vines naturally produce low yields, resulting in a wine with greater concentration while retaining the freshness and elegance that define southern Côte de Beaune Pinot Noir.
