Chambolle-Musigny is often referred to as the most graceful and elegant village in the Côte de Nuits, and Argilliès helps support that idea. About The Producer
Domaine René Cacheux et Fils is one of Vosne-Romanée's success stories. Founded by René Cacheux and now run by his son Gérald, this tiny family domaine farms just three hectares, including enviable holdings in Les Beaux Monts and Les Suchots. Production is incredibly limited, with a philosophy rooted in patience and restraint rather than extraction or heavy oak. The wines have long been favourites of Burgundy collectors, prized for their purity, perfume and ability to age gracefully while remaining unmistakably Vosne-Romanée.
Winemaking Information
Les Argillières comes from an exceptionally small 0.13-hectare parcel of around 50-year-old vines, lying directly alongside the legendary Grand Cru Musigny. The grapes are harvested entirely by hand before a traditional fermentation and maturation for around 18 months in French oak barrels, with only a small proportion of new oak to preserve the vineyard's purity. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration, allowing every nuance of this remarkable site to shine through.
