Why You'll Love It
It seems a bit reductive to compare this to red Burgundy. But nose in the glass, this does have a familiar Pinot Noir character with a savouriness, reminiscent of classic Burgundy. Bright cherry, wild strawberry and plum are joined by subtle spice, a touch of cedar and wonderfully silky tannins. Fresh, vibrant and incredibly easy to enjoy young, this is a delight.

Serve it lightly chilled with roast chicken, pork, mushroom dishes or a generous plate of charcuterie.
About The Producer
Dr. Wehrheim is one of Germany's leading family-owned wineries and has been a member of the prestigious VDP (Germany's association of top estates) since 1991. Based in the village of Birkweiler in the Southern Pfalz, the estate has been run by the Wehrheim family for four generations and is renowned for producing wines that faithfully express their vineyard sites. Farming organically and working across a remarkable mix of sandstone, limestone and volcanic soils, the family has earned a reputation for elegant, terroir-driven Rieslings and Burgundian varieties. Today, Dr. Wehrheim is widely regarded as one of the benchmark producers of Pinot Noir in the Pfalz.
Winemaking Information
The fruit is sourced from organically farmed vineyards around Birkweiler in Germany's Southern Pfalz. After careful hand harvesting, the grapes are gently fermented before maturing in used French barriques. By using older oak rather than new barrels, the emphasis remains firmly on purity of fruit, freshness and the delicate character that makes Spätburgunder such an expressive grape. The result is a bright, elegant Pinot Noir with soft tannins and plenty of drinkability.
