About The Producer
Viña Almirante is a cooperative of around 80 wine-growing families based in Portas, in the heart of Rías Baixas. Their vineyards lie in the lush Umia Valley, where Atlantic breezes and granite-influenced soils provide the perfect conditions for growing Albariño. The winery is named after Admiral Casto Méndez Núñez, one of Galicia's most celebrated naval heroes, and combines generations of local vineyard knowledge with modern winemaking under Rafael Fraga. The result is a range of expressive, coastal wines that capture the freshness and character of Galicia beautifully.
Winemaking Information
Vanidade is produced in the heart of the Val do Salnés, the historic home of Albariño in Galicia. After harvesting, part of the fruit undergoes cryomaceration (a cold maceration technique) to extract additional aroma and texture before gentle pneumatic pressing. The wine is fermented at low temperatures in stainless steel to preserve the purity of the fruit and Albariño's naturally vibrant acidity. The result is a wine with remarkable freshness, aromatic intensity and a lovely saline finish.
