Azienda Agricola Cortese is a family-run organic estate located near Vittoria in south-eastern Sicily. The winery is dedicated to producing authentic wines that express the distinctive character of the region's native grape varieties and historic vineyards. Their flagship Sabuci range comes from estate vineyards and showcases the harmony between Nero d'Avola and Frappato, the classic pairing behind Cerasuolo di Vittoria. With a focus on sustainable viticulture, careful winemaking and respect for tradition, Cortese has become one of the leading ambassadors for this unique Sicilian appellation.
Winemaking Information
The vineyards sit around Vittoria in south-eastern Sicily, where limestone and sandy soils benefit from warm Mediterranean days and cooling sea breezes. Nero d'Avola and Frappato are harvested separately at optimum ripeness before gentle vinification. The wine is matured for around 18 months, as required for the Classico designation, allowing the fruit and savoury elements to integrate while preserving freshness and elegance. The estate is organically farmed, reflecting a commitment to expressing the unique terroir of the Sabuci vineyard.
