About The Producer
Cà dei Maghi is a small family estate in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico zone, near Fumane. The Fasoli Fedrigo family has been making wine since the 1800s, with the modern winery established in the 1950s by grandparents Fernando and Luigina. Today, Paolo Creazzi and his family continue the tradition, producing tiny quantities of handcrafted Valpolicella, Ripasso, Amarone and Recioto from their hillside vineyards. Rather than chasing volume, the focus is on patience, traditional techniques and expressing the unique character of Valpolicella's historic terroir.
Winemaking Information
Recioto is the original wine of Valpolicella, made using the traditional appassimento method long before Amarone existed. The grapes are hand-harvested before being dried naturally for around six months, concentrating their sugars, flavours and aromas. After a slow fermentation in stainless steel, the wine is matured for several years, including time in traditional cherry wood casks, before further ageing in bottle. The result is an intensely complex sweet red, where richness is beautifully balanced by freshness.
