Why You'll Love It
Avignonesi are the most important and highly regarded estate in Vino Nobile de Montepulciano, known for producing richer, fuller styles than most of it's neighbours in Tuscany. This is wine exactly that. Rich and brooding with red fruit flavours, some forest floor, violets, plum and a touch of vanilla. On the palate there is more of the classic Sangiovese cherry, tomato leaf freshness and dusty tannins. Big and rich, worth decanting for a few hours before enjoying alongside a rib of beef.
About The Producer
Avignonesi has been at the forefront of Tuscan winemaking for more than 50 years and is today one of Italy's leading biodynamic estates. Under the ownership of Virginie Saverys, every vineyard has been converted to organic and biodynamic farming, with a philosophy centred on expressing the unique character of Montepulciano's soils. While the estate continues to innovate, its Vino Nobile remains its signature wine—crafted entirely from Sangiovese to showcase the elegance, freshness and longevity that define this historic denomination. The result is a wine that is unmistakably Tuscan yet refined enough to rival Italy's greatest reds.
Winemaking Information
Produced from 100% Sangiovese grown in organically and biodynamically farmed vineyards around Montepulciano. Fermentation is carried out using indigenous yeasts selected from the estate's own pied de cuve, followed by maturation in large oak casks and barrels to preserve the purity of the fruit while adding texture and complexity. The emphasis is on elegance rather than extraction, resulting in a wine with seamless tannins, freshness and excellent ageing potential.
