Champagne Delavenne Père et Fils Rose Marne NV

Champagne is the only place in the world where they are 'permitted' to make a Rose by mixing Red and White wine before it's second fermentation in bottle. In effect, it's about 2% red wine but it has a huge effect on the colour. As you pour this bottle it feels like you have upped the saturation on the world. 

Don't be fooled though, its baby pink hue hides a truly grown up wine. It is big, bold, rich and exciting. Wild strawberry, raspberry and redcurrant are backed up by a bright pink grapefruit. Once you have got over how wonderful the fruity flavours are, you realise your mouth is full of toast, brioche and aromas reminiscent of a Wooster's croissant. It is marvelous.
