About The Producer
Greywacke is Kevin Judd’s family-run winery in Marlborough. Founded in 2009, it takes its name from the grey river stones found throughout the region’s vineyards. The small team makes two distinct styles of Sauvignon Blanc, with Wild Sauvignon showing the grape’s richer, more textured side
Winemaking Information
2023 Sauvignon Blanc from Greywacke's Marlborough Southern Valleys and Wairau Plains. Fruit was picked by machine at night or by hand during the day, lightly pressed and cold-settled, then fermented slowly with indigenous yeasts in French oak barriques, a small proportion new. Occasional lees stirring and approximately two-thirds malolactic fermentation contributed texture. After transfer from oak, the wine rested a further six months on lees before bottling in September 2024. The winery's 2023 notes report 13.5% ABV, acidity 6.2g/L and pH 3.20.
