About The Producer
Marquista is an independent Sherry-bottling project founded by Richard Kelley MW. The name comes from the Spanish tradition of a marquista: a merchant who selects and bottles wine without owning a bodega. These limited releases are sourced from Bodegas del Río, a family-owned almacenista in Sanlúcar de Barrameda. Brothers Ángel and Luis del Río are the fourth generation of their family to grow grapes in the region, with 13 hectares at Viña Casilla Verde in the Miraflores Baja pago. The bodega, established in 1990, supplies Manzanilla to renowned houses including Lustau.
Winemaking Information
100% Palomino Fino from Bodegas del Río, Sanlúcar de Barrameda. Marquista selects this Manzanilla from a 44-barrel solera with an average of around four years of biological ageing beneath flor. Drawn directly from cask and bottled en rama without clarification or cold stabilisation. UK listings identify a spring 2026 saca, but confirm the label for the specific batch held. The regular Manzanilla is distinct from Marquista Old Manzanilla En Rama, which comes from a separate 38-barrel solera and receives additional static ageing. 15% ABV, 75cl.
