We’re off to Austria for this Meet the Makers, welcoming Salzl Seewinkelhof from the brilliant Seewinkel region of Burgenland. Based in Illmitz, right by Lake Neusiedl, the Salzl family have been growing vines here since 1840 and now have three generations involved in the winery.
Seewinkel is a pretty special little corner of the wine world. Long, sunny summers, cooling influence from Lake Neusiedl and a patchwork of different soils give Salzl plenty to play with.
They make everything from bright, fresh whites to seriously good reds and the luscious sweet wines the region is famous for. We particularly love what they do with Zweigelt... juicy and generous when it wants to be, but capable of making some properly impressive wine too.
For this special evening, we’ll be joined by the Salzl Seewinkelhof team to taste our way through a hand-picked selection of their wines and find out what makes this part of Austria so exciting. Expect brilliant bottles, plenty of stories from the winery and probably a newfound appreciation for Austrian wine. We’ll provide the wine, cheese, charcuterie and bread. You just need to turn up thirsty.
No stuffiness. No wine snobbery. Still very much Vino Gusto.
As always, cheese and charcuterie included.

- We adore our wonky old building. All we regret is that the staircase to our first floor WC and tasting room is not forgiving and as such rules us out from being accessible. Sorry for the inconvenience it may cause.
- Please note that we kindly ask attendees not to wear strong aftershave or perfume for the event. This sounds like a silly request, but we try and keep our tasting room as a controlled environment so that only the wine fumes invade our nostrils.
