About The Producer
Settlement is a Marlborough wine project built around carefully chosen, organically farmed vineyards. Led by experienced winemaker Steve Planthaber, it explores the individual character of sites across the Wairau Valley and Southern Valleys. The Heritage Vineyard is a mature Sauvignon Blanc planting on the Wairau Valley floor, where silty clay loams and a long growing season produce fruit with intensity and a strong line of acidity.
Winemaking Information
The 2024 Sauvignon Blanc comes from organically certified vines planted from 1990 onwards in the Wairau Valley on free-draining silt and clay loams. The grapes were machine-harvested and pressed directly, with the juice settled before fermentation. Around 15% fermented with indigenous yeasts in older French oak, adding texture without overwhelming its bright fruit. The wine was bottled unfined.
